More old stuff! :)

 

Found ’em!!  I was pretty sure I knew where all the photos were….just took me a few minutes to find what I needed.  In the process, I found a few more old ones and decided I really DO need to work on getting more pics in albums.  The problem with that is…I’m one of those all or nothing types…once I get started (which is the hardest part of any project!) I work till the wee hours of the night/morning and nearly go cross-eyed in the process.  I’ll just add that to my Things To Do List.

The rest of my long-winded tale is that not only did my mother make all of my clothes, she took any leftover scraps and turned them into doll fashions.  Most of the time she duplicated my dresses for my dolls’ wardrobes.  She was way ahead of her time huh? American Doll Inc.!!  Have mercy!  Have you seen the prices on those matching outfits? I’m not sure our first car didn’t cost that much!

The old, age 6..it was our town’s centennial, so my mother, grandma and pretty much everyone I knew spent weeks making their “old timey” dresses!

The old, age 6 1/2…Mother made this for a cousin’s wedding. I was the flowergirl.

The new in my pink, silk dress accented with a white tucked cumberband w/pink dots. It needs a nice poofy starched can-can underneath it, don’t you think?!

   And just for good measure, here’s the Dale Evans doll outfit.  This was actually a Madame Alexander doll. I usually got a doll for Christmas and Mother always bought my dolls in underwear only.  You could do that then and it saved money.  Then my doll got a wardrobe out of whatever scraps she could find.  So the bride doll got her wedding gown, a nightgown set, a going away outfit and a Dale Evans outfit! Later, the same doll was fitted with a duplication of my wedding gown.  But for today, she was Dale. And no, my Dale didn’t have a Buttermilk.  I so wanted a horse.  I pined for a horse. No horse.

Oh, also found the matching squaw dress.  Did anyone else have a squaw dress?  Not sure that term is PC, but being PC has never been a talent of mine!
