The other day, I stopped by to take DiL and granddaughters a couple of things and chat about silage lunches.
The oldest grand was reading to her mom as the youngest came running at me while the second oldest paraded past me in fake eyeglasses with a baby in her backpack while pulling another baby in a suitcase. Obviously, she was on a mission.
The question was….where was #3? She’s usually the first to answer the door. Never did see her.
But. The oldest stopped and said, “Meemaw, I want to show you something!”
This kid pays attention. She knows her Meemaw is a bit of a geek when it comes to certain things…dolls, roses, antiques, French braids and The Hobbit. But seasonally geeky over one more thing…acorns.
She held out her hand and there laid acorns!!! It seems that when her mom and dad took their crew to the Kansas State game a week ago, she spent some time retrieving acorns on campus. And brought them back to me! “All mine?”, I asked her. “Yep. I know you like acorns Meemaw.”
She couldn’t have given me a better gift. A heart gift. More precious than gold!
That is such a sweet story! And her acorns are lovely! What size, though?
Hard to figure the scale.
