The Wedding was this past weekend and although I’m not a drinking woman, I feel like I just came off a cheap drunk, as my Daddy would say! 🙂 Time to kick back!!
Everything went off beautifully. In the cake department, the cakes didn’t fall, the flowers didn’t break, I finished on time….but honestly, I had just enough time to jump into my dress, put on some lipstick and roar down Belt St. with Big Boss at the wheel to the church, arriving with 10 minutes to spare!! *pant pant* This is a good thing. Many weddings find me still decorating through the ceremony and praying that the photographer is slow so I can finish everything before the guests start arriving at the reception!! I still have a hard time walking away and not nit-picking every little thing.
But this was my last wedding. So I was on schedule (almost) as I had planned accordingly.
My bride…who is also my niece…had requested dirt/mud. Seriously, she didn’t care what kind of cakes we had because they could be made out of mud and she’d love them. Can’t get much more cooperative than that folks!
So, the plan was several small cakes using several different flavors. I won’t bore you with the details, but it was good plan!
We served 4-5 different flavors at a time so guests had choices!
And Sweet Niece wanted each of the cakes decorated differently, so that meant I got to be creative, using several cake artist’s techniques and designs, then throwing in my own ideas. Almost more than an artsy fartsy person can handle!!!? (Not shown is a chocolate sheet cake…just in case…)
Anyway, in spite of the HIGH HUMIDITY, which never occurred to me to worry about, the entire weekend went well! And of course, I had helping hands all along the way…BB not getting a square meal for weeks…without complaining! SiL and BiL and #2 niece loading and transporting cakes and a boatload of cake decorating supplies…a great hotel with eager to please employees…more friends moving finished cakes around! Grandkids taking care of yard and garden while I was gone
And a grandson now want’s to know if I’ll do his wedding cake! Also a great-niece..who is 8! And a couple of groomsmen from last Saturday’s celebration. Oy vey!
This is…officially…The End.
Now…for Madi’s birthday cake!
